After a lazy brunch on the patio at Cosmo’s Cafe (Gourmet Market), John and I headed to Crescent Bend Armstrong Lockett House to see the advertised 20,000 tulips and soak in some of this incredible April day. Located on Kingston Pike, the front of historic Crescent Bend is simple but a trip through the house and out the back door reveals a lovely terraced garden leading down to the Tennessee River. Although some of the tulips were fading, we found plenty see and photograph.
Lots of yellow and deep pink tulips. The Ag campus can be seen in the distance.
Yellow tulips! Yellow is my favorite color, bright and cheery.
The gardens looking uphill toward the house. With this beautiful setting, Crescent Bend gardens are booked most weekends for weddings.
So elegant!
One of several fountains, this is the closest one to the river.
Crescent Bend has a lovely rose garden too. Not too many roses in bloom during our visit.
Tulips signify the 2nd wave of spring to me, daffodils are the first. This variegated tulip with purple center is just lovely.
This is the middle fountain, the lower fountain and the river are visible at the top of the photo.
