Weather be damned, John and I are going backpacking tomorrow, 6 friends are going too! With rain predicted for Saturday, high winds, icy temps (below 0 with wind chill) and snow for Sunday morning, I have spent my evening stuffing everything that absolutely must stay dry in ziplocks and plastic bags. That includes sleeping bag, therma-rest, fleece and clothes. For good measure, I have stuffed things that will get wet in camp and restuffed in my pack in ziplocks too. My pack must have 3 extra pounds of plastic.
Let’s see…long underwear, fleece jacket, fleece tights, down jacket, wool hat, extra inner gloves, outer gloves, extra socks, rain jacket, rain pants, Go-lite umbrella, tarp, hot drinks, “hot hands” glove warmers and a good book..I think I have it all. Winter backpacking here we come!
