We are back from a wonderful trip to Boone and Blowing Rock. Today is a holiday, which translates to an opportunity to run at a reasonable am hour. Getting outside at 8:00 AM was easy with the cool temperature beckoning. As I start to run, my mind drifts to Saturday’s effortless run and I hope day will be the same. Five miles is my day’s goal. A month ago, I would have considered five miles a short run, today it is an effort. As my feet move quickly across the pavement below me, I contemplate the heat and humidity that contributed to derailing my efforts to run a fall marathon. Some day maybe I will move beyond the issues that hold me back.
Run finished, another five miles on the books.
