Holidays around town…

After eating turkey with our respective families, we decided to take advantage of the holiday festivities going on during the holiday weekend. Friday was the city tree lighting. Crafts sellers were everywhere, fire pits scattered around and live music was blasting from the stage on Market Square Square. We walked around, people watched and enjoyed the holiday atmosphere. We had a lot of fun!

Sunday we headed out to the University of Tennessee Trial Gardens to see the “Holiday Express.” The Express is 4000′ of model trains and sets that have been collected and built over 25 years by a Knoxville resident. Each year, when Thanksgiving rolls around, he sets up the display in a heated tent on garden property and for a nominal fee, anyone can enjoy his hobby. The Trail Gardens are also decorated with ribbons and garland and make for a nice Sunday afternoon stroll.
