I pirated a couple of West Coast Trail photos from Will Skelton’s collection. He practices more patience with his photos than the rest of us “point and shooters”. The first picture tells the true story with ladders….down rungs to a slanted platform to a small boardwalk to another set of ladders. This story is repeated often along the trail, both up and down. We had some group disagreements on the direction we preferred. I tend to prefer the down ladders, my muscles are stronger. Bill, Barbara and John prefer the up ladders. Not sure about Will and Kim.
The 2nd photo captures the tale of roots and mud. If you were lucky enough to climb over the massive Sitka tree roots without tripping or slipping, you would most likely have to pull your feet out of some real boot sucking mud. Along the areas trail was the only option, the roots looked like they do below. Along areas that the beach was an option, the trail was less eroded and the roots weren’t quite as bad.
